About Paula Blanca

My name is Paula Blanca and I’m beyond excited to share my work with you.

I came to America when I was 10 years old, from the Phillippines. I've made Seattle my home and live here along with my husband and my 3 rowdy pups. I'm a Merchant Mariner by day, maintaining equipment on ships, but at night I'm able to express my true passion by painting and I'm thrilled to share it with you. I work primarily with fluid art techniques, using acrylic as my main medium and sometimes combine that with airbrush work.

Since I was a young girl, I’ve always been imaginative and loved colors. Gifts I received as a child and a teenager were often art supplies. That, compiled with the nurturing I received from my art teachers, propelled me into the creative process. Here in Washington state, we are just immersed in nature’s beauty. Fluid art piqued my interest because, like nature, the forms and shapes and flow of it just seemed so organic to me. I loved the way every person saw it differently.

"Pour art is a beautifully organic art that allows me to create pieces that all have their own personality. By using gravity, velocity, air, specific gravity and centrifugal force, I am able to create pieces with rarely the use of a paint brush. It's a lot like planting a seed and instantly watching the flower bloom, giving the piece a life of its own. Sharing this work with the community is what brings joy into my life. I am fortunate to have found my life purpose."
